How To Get Grammarly Premium For Free (2017)
It’s easy to get Grammarly Premium for free in 2017, if you know about their most recent promotion. Recently, Grammarly has opted to promote their services by offering Grammarly Premium for free when you get referred through someone who is already their user. By becoming a referral, you get Grammarly Premium for one week to try out. Every new friend you refer earns both you and your referral another week of using Grammarly Premium for free.
What is Grammarly?
Don’t know what Grammarly is and why you might need it? As writers, having a spell-checking, proofreading tool can be quite helpful, but Grammarly is more than that. We do not suggest using it instead of an editor, but it certainly can pick up on the errors that Microsoft Word, for example, can’t.
Grammarly also helps you enhance your clarity and meaning by using a synonym suggestion system that is optimized by context. It’s indispensable when it comes to helping writers identify their problems, from the overuse of passive voice, to wordy sentences and confused prepositions. The free version will identify most of your errors, but Grammarly Premium has some added features.
How to start using Grammarly?
Using it is quite intuitive. It works a lot like Google Docs. You can use your web browser to login to the Grammarly editor, and from there, use the MyGrammarly button on the navigation tab to upload your documents. You can also copy and paste an existing document or start typing a new document from scratch. It supports .doc, .docx, .odt, .rtf, and .txt files which you can download back to your computer once you edit it using Grammarly. Grammarly Editor automatically saves all your documents and they’re always available for download when you log in.
The Grammarly Editor checks your documents automatically, and you may choose to implement the suggestions it offers after you review them.
Grammarly Premium features
Among the most important features of Grammarly Premium, there’s the genre-specific writing style check and a plagiarism detector, but also more vocabulary enhancement suggestions, and advanced grammar and spelling checks.
Monthly subscription fee for Grammarly Premium is $29.99, which might be a bit much for a lot of new writers just to try it out, but that’s where becoming a referral comes in.
Who should use Grammarly?
We’ve found that Grammarly is a good tool for non-native speakers as it identifies the errors you tend to repeat in your writing. It also makes spell-checking go much faster, so if you are a student or someone who has to check a batch of work, it can save you a lot of time.
For native speakers, it can be used as a study aid as it explains some finer points of grammar. It’s also a stable line of defense for people who write a lot and do it often, as you can be sure your writing is easy to read and grammatically correct.
However, as we mentioned, it cannot replace a human proofreader/editor, nor mask a complete lack of grammar knowledge. It certainly cannot provide as much context and accurate feedback as a human can. It can have some issues with fiction, so if you are writing a book, please don’t use Grammarly instead of an editor. However, there’s an option on the Grammarly dashboard that lets you send your work to a human proofreader for $0.2 per word.
In short, there are many useful features of Grammarly Premium as well as the free version, so if you haven’t used it yet, now is the perfect chance to try out Grammarly Premium for free.
